Meet Our People - Aaron Lowe
Aaron Lowe, Receiving Supervisor
Aaron Lowe likes the fast-paced environment at the WSLCB Distribution Center.
He supervises 17 employees, who unload, scan in and store all product deliveries, making sure the right product was sent by suppliers, the correct quantity was received and that it is in good condition. They schedule appointments with the suppliers at four major intervals during the shift to keep the product moving through Receiving efficiently, often fitting in smaller shipments during off times.
His crew handles up to 23,000 cases of product a day, with peak times in summer and the months leading up to the holiday season. The Receiving Department maintains a close working relationship with the Purchasing Division to ensure all ordered product is received correctly into the Distribution Center.
“Everyone works together as a team to get everything done,” Lowe said. “I enjoy working here because of the day-to-day challenges of making sure everything runs accordingly. I enjoy my peers and colleagues. It makes coming to work more enjoyable.”
Lowe, of Seattle, has been with the WSLCB since May 2007. He started out as a Warehouse Operator 1, processing split cases, and handpicking and depalletizing product. He went on to be a Warehouse Operator 2, where he operated forklifts and turret trucks, and a Maintenance Custodian, where he troubleshot problems with the carousel and conveyor systems.
He then took a temporary Warehouse Operator 3 position, and eventually became permanent in the supervisory position. He found a mentor in Swing Shift Supervisor Greg Laffoon, who was previously a Receiving Department Supervisor.
“He showed me the ropes, taught me how to handle problems one by one, and how to prioritize what is most important,” Lowe said.
