The WSLCB Licensing Division participated in the Results Washington’s Agency Design Challenge. The Design Challenge is based on human centered design principles, and the goal is to improve customer experiences and make processes more human centered. Through research and in-person empathy interviews with licensees, we found many new licensees were unclear on how to navigate through the licensing process.
In response to the customer feedback, the team engaged with licensees to create a starter’s guide for new liquor license applicants, which has been named Guiding Light. This lighthouse theme represents the concept of using navigational aids through the licensing process. The guide is created to help new business owners navigate through the licensing process, by providing tips, quick links and consolidated resources.
