Steps to Apply for a Social Equity License

Prepare for the next Social Equity window by watching our educational videos available here and begin gathering documentation to verify your eligibility for the Social Equity Program.

Complete your registration on the portal when the window opens on June 2nd. You will have thirty days to complete this step. If registering with business partners, only one registration is needed.

Once the registration window closes, check your email regularly for notification from the third-party contractor, Alta Point Consulting.

Alta Point Consulting will reach out to all registrants to sign up through their website and steps for how to submit your documentation.

Alta Point Consulting will evaluate your documentation. If you meet the Social Equity qualifications, your materials will be scored.

Once all documentation is evaluated and scored, Alta Point will send the final scores to LCB for notification. You will receive a notification letter from LCB with your status and next steps.

If there is a tie between groups of registrants who are within the highest scoring evaluations, a double-blind lottery will occur to determine who will move forward.

If you are one of the final highest scoring registrants, you will move forward with the licensing process. You will need to apply for your business license through the Department of Revenue’s Business Licensing Services (BLS). A Licensing Specialist will be assigned to you afterwards. Find out more information about cannabis licensing here.

Stay tuned to the LCB website for the most up to date information. You can also check out the Social Equity blog on Medium and sign up for GovDelivery notification emails here.
The LCB will notify you if you have been selected to move forward. If you have any questions regarding the licensing application process, please reach out to LicensingSocialEquity@lcb.wa.gov.
