Emergency Suspension Issued for Frankies Bar Grill & Lounge
Licensee violated the terms of two previous suspension agreements.
OLYMPIA – The Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (WSLCB) Tuesday issued an emergency liquor license suspension of 180 days for Frankie’s Sports Bar Grill & Lounge, located at 3663 Pacific Ave, Olympia. The suspension is effective for 180 days beginning November 21, 2017 until May 20, 2018. During that time the WSLCB will seek permanent revocation of the license.
Emergency suspensions represent an extraordinary exercise of the state’s power and the WSLCB is mandated to ensure that an emergency suspension is reasonable, justifiable and legal in every way.
The emergency suspension comes as a result of the licensees repeated failure to comply with state liquor laws. On two separate occasions the licensee has violated the terms of a suspension order by selling alcohol and allowing the consumption of cannabis during the suspension. The licensee contested the violations at administrative hearing but the Administrative Law Judge ruled in favor of the WSLCB.
Based on the nature and extent of the non-compliance, the WSLCB is imposing an immediate suspension of the licensee’s liquor license to be followed by an administrative proceeding seeking revocation of the liquor license. The WSLCB is authorized by state law to issue an emergency suspension of up to 180 days of a liquor license when it believes the “health, safety or welfare” of the general public is in danger. The WSLCB has not issued an emergency suspension since 2015.
