More than 1,000 companies now using Liquor Control Board's online tax payment system

OLYMPIA The Washington State Liquor Control Board (WSLCB) is pleased to announce that more than 1,000 businesses have signed up for the agency's Online Tax Reporting and Payment System.

All wineries, breweries and Washington retailers have the option to file their monthly summary tax reports and make tax payments through this system, which is available on the WSLCB Web site at The WSLCB Beer and Wine Tax Unit can help businesses sign up for the system.

Simple and user friendly
Six Sigma Winery, located in California, has been using the system since January 2008.

"The Web site is so user friendly, I wish that every state could model their Web sites after the WSLCB," according to Six Sigma Winery. "In addition to the online services being so simple to use, on the few occasions when I have had to call the Beer and Wine Tax Unit, I have had friendly, knowledgeable staff that have been able to resolve my questions promptly."

Rock Meadow Cellars of California started using the system in October.

"Discovering ways to make our tasks easier is always advantageous," according to Rock Meadow Cellars. "One task that has greatly improved is our monthly reporting with the WSLCB. Trying the new online system for the first time this month was easy and effortless. The log-in process went well and when I had a few questions, the WSLCB staff as always assisted me with patience."

The online system emanated from 2006 legislation in Washington state that modified direct-to-consumer shipping and tax requirements for out of state wineries. The system simplifies the reporting process for domestic and out-of-state reporters.

The system is not available at this time to wine and beer distributors, importers and authorized representative certificate of approval holders, or public houses.
