OLYMPIA – The Washington State Liquor Control Board (WSLCB) has hired M. Annelle Lerner as the agency’s new Human Resources Director. Her first day is March 17, 2008.

Lerner, of Bonney Lake, has more than 20 years of human resource management experience in various private sector companies and casinos, such as the Muckleshoot Indian Casino, Caesar’s Palace and McDonnell Douglas Aircraft. She also has experience working in retail and regulatory environments, which will aid her transition to the WSLCB.

“I am excited about Annelle’s depth of experience and the skills that she will bring to the Liquor Control Board,” said Pat Kohler, the WSLCB Administrative Director. “Her ability to think strategically in the human resource arena will be a complement to our management team.”

Lerner has knowledge and experience in negotiations and mediation; benefits administration; mentoring and professional development programs; recruitment and retention; labor relations; tribal relations; and more. She also has a solid knowledge of labor laws and OSHA regulations.

“I am truly honored by this opportunity and I look forward to joining Pat Kohler and her team,” said Lerner. “I feel my experience will lend itself nicely to the Washington State Liquor Control Board.”

Most recently, Lerner worked as the Senior Human Resources Director of the Muckleshoot Indian Casino in Auburn. There, she supervised 22 human resource professionals including trainers.

She also worked as a human resources consultant and trainer for M.A. Lerner & Associates in Las Vegas, specializing in small to medium employers and Not-For-Profit organizations.

Lerner earned her B.A. in English Communications from Whittier College in California. She also earned a Certificate in Negotiations from Harvard University.
