Responsible Alcohol Sales Training
About The Course
The Responsible Alcohol Sales Training online course is offered by the WA State Liquor and Cannabis Board with funding support from the WA Traffic Safety Commission. This course is designed to educate alcohol sellers in responsible sales practices and to promote safe and healthy environment for all Washingtonians. Completion of this course should take approximately one hour.
Retailers participating in the Responsible Vendor Program (RVP) must ensure all individuals selling alcohol products complete a responsible alcohol sales training program upon hire and a refresher training at least once per year.
This course, when successfully completed, will meet the training requirement for the Responsible Vendor Program. Upon completion, a Certificate of Completion may be printed for your records and for your employer. Your employer should keep training records for three years at the place of business.
Before Taking the Course
- Read and understand your store’s House Policy for Alcohol Sales and know where it is posted.
- Know where your store posts the signs that discourage customers from attempting to purchase alcohol illegally. Examples are “You must be 21 to buy alcohol,” and “Acceptable forms of ID to purchase alcohol.”
- Understand your store’s responsible alcohol sales management policy.
Do you need training materials mail to you?
The WSLCB can provide a sample (hyperlink) house alcohol policy, signs deterring the illegal purchase of alcohol and employee training materials. The employee training booklets are available in English, Korean and Spanish. Please visit our website at http://lcb.wa.gov and check under the Licensing Services tab. Privacy Policy
Personal information must be provided during Course Registration for training verification purposes. After completion of the course, the WSLCB will keep your training records for 13 months. These records include your name, date of birth, place of employment, email address, contact phone number. Your training record will be accessible to you, your employer and WSLCB during this time.
