Media invited to state liquor store auction launch
Online auction details available at open-house-style Seattle liquor store event

OLYMPIA –The Liquor Control Board is launching an online auction Thurs. March 8, 2012, that will allow interested parties to purchase the rights to sell liquor at current state liquor store locations. Successful bidders will have the right to sell spirits at locations less than the 10,000 square feet threshold established by Initiative 1183.

Business Enterprise Director Pat McLaughlin will be available at Seattle Store 101, from 10 - 11:00 a.m. to explain the auction process and for individual interviews. Materials detailing the auction process will be available at the media open house. While present, members of the media will also have an opportunity to take photos or video footage of the store. 

This first-ever auction of state liquor store location rights is the last major milestone before the transition to private sales on June 1, 2012.
