Media Invited: Liquor Control Board Hearing on Extended Hours of Alcohol Service

SEATTLE – The city of Seattle will host a Liquor Control Board hearing at Seattle City Hall on Monday, March 12, 2012.

Board members will hear brief opening remarks from Mayor McGinn and City staff about Seattle’s request to revise state rules to allow local governments to petition the Board to establish extended hours of alcohol service beyond 2 a.m. within local jurisdictions. State rule, WAC 314-11-070, currently prohibits the sale of alcohol between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m.

On July 25, 2011, the city of Seattle petitioned the Board to open rule making. As an open public meeting, the Board will hear testimony from interested parties. Invitations have been extended to nightlife proponents, law enforcement, community groups, and others.
