Information for cities, towns, port authorities, and counties requesting expanded outdoor alcohol service in public spaces
Local governments may request authorization from LCB for expanded outdoor service in public spaces. The jurisdiction can request a one-time event or for an ongoing authorization through Dec. 31, 2027. The fee for each authorized request is $1,700.
Local governments with populations over 220,000 may request authorization for expanded alcohol service at publicly owned civic campus. The fee for each event is $1,500.
Additionally, local governments may request expanded alcohol service for areas designated as a fan zone for the FIFA World Cup in 2026. The fee per event is $3,900.
Requirements for all Local Government Authorizations
For any of these authorizations, a successful application needs to include all required information and be submitted through the LCB Portal.
A designee for the applicant must create a Portal account, provide contact information, and identify the parcel number(s) of area(s) requested for authorization. Two documents must be submitted in the Portal:
- A site map of the specific area or areas where you are requesting expanded alcohol services.
- An operating plan with details describing adequate local resources, including law enforcement patrols in the area, to ensure safe operations of activities and the community.
More information, instructions, and resources on the registration and application processes are under development and will be posted on the Expanded Alcohol Services page when available.
These alcohol service allowances were authorized by the state Legislature in SSHB House Bill 1515.
