Liquor and tobacco enforcement officers are limited-authority, commissioned law enforcement officers. Officers enforce state liquor and tobacco laws and regulations at liquor-licensed businesses such as restaurants, nightclubs, grocery stores, wineries and breweries.

Officers carry out both educational and enforcement tasks, such as liquor law briefings, "Responsible Alcohol and Tobacco Sales" classes, premises checks, undercover operations, compliance checks, joint patrols with local law enforcement agencies, and more.

Officers are based out of regional enforcement offices around the state.
