Liquor Control Board to hold public hearing on draft medical marijuana recommendations

Single hearing to be held on November 13 at Saint Martin’s University

OLYMPIA – The Washington State Liquor Control Board (Board) announced today that it will hold a public hearing on Nov. 13, 2013, to take public testimony regarding recent draft medical cannabis recommendations.

A proviso in Section 141 of the state operating budget directs the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board to work with the departments of Revenue and Health to develop recommendations for the Legislature regarding the interaction of medical cannabis regulations and the emerging recreational cannabis system.

The draft recommendations on which the Board will take comment cover  eight categories that include possession amounts, medical cannabis authorizing requirements, taxation and other topics.

The Board will present  final recommendations to the Legislature by January 1, 2014  . The date for the Board’s approval of the final recommendations has not yet been determined. The Board continues to take written testimony at medicalcannabis@lcb.wa.gov.
