"Get it While it's Hot!" liquor stores heat up for June spirits month

June 4, 2008

OLYMPIA - Throughout June, over 200 state and contract liquor stores will participate in Washington's Spirits Month promotion. The promotion's theme is "Get it While It's Hot!," and the stores will feature summer-related product displays, one-time-only products and value-added packages.

"Spirits Month is a fun opportunity to liven up our stores with creative displays and unique products that appeal to our customers in the summer months," said Debi Besser, Director of Purchasing at the Washington State Liquor Control Board (WSLCB). "Summer is the time to be outside. Our store employees go all out to create a store experience that captures the fun and outdoor activities of the season."

Some Spirit Month promotions include:

-Bourbon with barbecue tools
-Rum with Mojito mix
-Vodka with a Martini glass

Individual stores will create colorful summer-themed displays to go with the promotional products. In the past, stores have set up camping gear, beach umbrellas, palm trees, tiki bars, barbecue sets, picnics, and more.

State and contract liquor stores also feature special Washington wines during August's "Washington Wine Month" and Halloween-themed products during October's "Spooky Spirits Month."
